The great outdoors and the creatures that inhabit it are perennially popular themes in jewelry design — not surprising, since gems and metals are part of the natural treasures that Mother Earth offers, too. And the flora and fauna flourished at this year’s couture show in Las Vegas, especially in newly popular cocktail rings. Designers such as Roberto Coin and Mimi So favored a bunny design (rabbits have been all the rage in fine jewelry this year), while Alex Soldier and Alison Lou went for floral, with, respectively, sunflower and rose motifs. These digital decorations will surely engage anyone close enough to catch a glimpse, bedecked as they are in all sorts of stones: sapphires, tsavorites, emeralds and — those stars of nature — diamonds.
