Le Bon Marché, which built an interactive pop-up market to celebrate Marni’s 20th anniversary, sold 405 build-your-own necklaces within the market’s first five days — a high volume the store attributes to the item’s low price. Starting at about $32, the jewelry is favored by “chic Parisians who are buying them for their next beach trip,” said Le Bon Marché’s group style director, Jennifer Cuvillier. Shoppers assemble the necklaces from an array of classic Marni components like felted shapes and obscure ribbons. The market, up until May 16, also offers tote bags, sculptures, T-shirts and fresh-cut flowers — enabling Parisian women to treat themselves à la Mrs. Dalloway.
