Me&Ro is marking its silver anniversary with a flurry of new collections — and a moment of reflection — from designer and founder Robin Renzi.

Upon launching in 1991, Me&Ro was picked up by Barneys New York, Neiman Marcus and other top retailers. Renzi eventually expanded with four flagships and 100 employees. Her signature trinket pendants, bohemian chains and stackable rings were spotted on celebs like Julia Roberts, Kate Moss, Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson and Charlize Theron and featured in more than 70 films and TV shows.
“We were on top of the mountain — it was so big — and then everything crashed and everyone freaked,” Renzi recalled. “And I said, ‘What am I doing with this humongous business?’ The bigger your business is, guess what you’re dealing with? Business.”
Renzi scaled back to focus on doing what she really loves — designing — and now operates a single boutique at 241 Elizabeth Street in Manhattan, across the street from the label’s birthplace: her former apartment. “You find your real followers,” Renzi said, noting the power of being small. “After 25 years, I am so true to myself. I have learned so much, and I am so much happier now.”
For the milestone, Renzi teamed with Amazon on a 64-piece collection of sterling silver fashion jewelry. “It felt like the right moment to bring Me&Ro to a wider, more global audience,” she said. Trinket necklaces and bracelets come inscribed with paisley-engraved pendants bearing the words “fearless,” “courage,” “love,” “peace” and “wisdom.” Other styles feature elephants, moons, butterflies, hearts, stars and anchors or natural gemstones such as amethyst and rose quartz. Designed in New York and sold exclusively on Amazon.com, the collection sits at an accessible $50 to $180.
On the more upscale side, Renzi also created a series of necklaces with dangling figa, horn and hand-carved elephant pendants for her signature line — all of them inspired by a necklace she wore daily throughout high school — ranging from $230 for sterling silver up to $3,025 for 18-karat gold versions with lapis, ebony or turquoise.
These necklaces, in addition to Me&Ro’s collections of ebony and O-chain jewelry, are available in-shop and online at meandrojewelry.com.
“After 25 years,” Renzi said, “I have learned that the best gifts to give and receive are love and jewelry.”
