Cindy Edelstein, a longtime editor and trade show coordinator for JCK, died Sunday at age 51. The cause of death was heart failure.
A Brooklyn native, Edelstein attended courses at the Fashion Institute of Technology and Hofstra University. She began her career as a fashion editor for JCK, and later took on leadership roles within the JCK trade show circuit. She also consulted for the couture jewelry show in Las Vegas and created her own trade show — GlobalDesign.
Along with husband Frank Stankus, Edelstein founded the Jeweler’s Resource Bureau. They also collaborated on a book, titled “Brilliance: Masterpieces from the American Jewelry Design Council,” which sold out its first printing.
Edelstein is survived by Stankus, as well as a daughter Remy, a stepson Byron, and brother Philip Edelstein.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at the Sinai Free Synagogue in Mount Vernon, N.Y.
