PARIS — Marking a bigger push into the realm of jewelry, auction house Phillips has named Graeme Thompson worldwide head of jewelry, based in Hong Kong.
The former Bonhams executive is charged with creating a strategy for the auction house’s global jewelry business, developing a global team with a foothold in New York, London, Hong Kong and Geneva.
“There is tremendous opportunity to build a highly competitive jewelry business with a modern sensibility in today’s auction market,” said Edward Dolman, chief executive officer of Phillips.
Thompson formerly directed jewelry in Asia for Bonhams, where he built a team of international specialists.
Last year, Phillips teamed with Mr Porter and The Rake for an auction in New York, staging 120 vintage timepieces with fashion looks suitable for specific settings.
