SUMMER JEWELS: Plukka is heading out East. The online, multichannel fine jewelry retailer has opened its first brick-and-mortar location — albeit temporarily — with a pop-up shop in South Hampton. Open now through Sept. 30, the 42B Jobs Lane-located store will carry a range of Plukka’s fine jewelry, which includes AS29, Jennifer Creel, Suzanne Kalan, Bochic, Jack Vartanian and Bernard Delettrez. “We chose to open a pop-up in the Hamptons this summer because it is one of the most popular and sophisticated shopping destinations in the world,” said Joanne Ooi, Plukka’s founder and creative director. To fete the temporary location, Plukka has partnered with The Watermill Center in support of its International Summer Program and notable Annual Summer Benefit & Auction. Additionally, the store will donate a portion of all sales proceeds for the duration of the pop-up boutique to The Watermill Center.
The store also marks something of a trial run for the brand, which plans to open a permanent boutique in Manhattan this year. “We wanted to give New Yorkers a foretaste and representative glimpse of some of our favorite established and emerging designers,” said Ooi, noting that she plans to open six additional boutiques around the world — four in the U.S. — in the next three years.
