The collection will hit Steve Madden stores and in May and will roll out to major department stores, such as Macy’s and Dillard’s, in August.

Steve Madden jewelry is geared toward a young, fashion-forward consumer and offers a contemporary play on classic pieces, such as hoops, bangles and pendants. The introductory line will retail from $20 to $40 and feature 40 to 50 styles in brass-, gold- and silver-plated metal, leather and fabrics. Many items are accessorized with sequins or charms.

“We saw a huge opportunity for a first-floor accessories item and jewelry was a great extension of our brand,” said Zina Zegans, fashion and licensing director at Steve Madden. “We felt we could do exactly what we do in shoes, but with jewelry. There are great items coming off the runway, and we’re taking inspiration from these items and putting it into jewelry for the market.”

Daniel Landver, chief executive officer of Los Angeles-based Lucas Design, emphasized that the jewelry will create a “cohesive look” in matching the shoes. Leather patterns, studs or chains that accessorize the shoe line will also be found in the jewelry.

“The jewelry and shoes tie together really well in terms of accessorizing an outfit and, as for design direction, it’s been great being able to use so much material taken from the shoes,” Landver said.

As for additional growth plans, Zegans said Steve Madden is launching apparel next month and recently released a bedding collection with Bed, Bath & Beyond.
