Herschel Supply Co. will open its first global flagship in the historic neighborhood of Gastown, Vancouver in mid-2017. This will mark the first location that will be owned and operated by the Vancouver-based accessories brand.

The company has 25 Herschel Supply stores that are operated by third-party distributors in cities such as Dubai, Paris, Taipei, Manila, Bangkok, Milan and Hong Kong. Herschel supports the stores with design, marketing and strategy but the stores are operated on a day-to-day basis by the partners.

Jamie Cormack, who cofounded Herschel with his brother Lyndon in 2009, said there are a total of 40 retail outposts for the brand, which includes kiosks and in-store shops in addition to the stores.

“We always envisioned telling our full story for the first time at retail in Vancouver,” he said. “It’s our backyard and we’re excited share this next move with our hometown.”

The 5,000-square-foot unit, Herschel Supply Gastown, will be the company’s largest to date and will carry the full “depth and breadth of our product offering,” Cormack said. “It will be the only location operating globally with the complete collection as well as some unique items that won’t be available anywhere else. People will be able to purchase everything they need for travel at Herschel Supply Gastown.”

He said the store will also provide a retail experience that will focus on storytelling so customers can “understand the Herschel Supply brand better than ever before, in a store that is the best expression of design-driven architecture. We’re a team who is passionate about retail and it’s going to show in our Gastown location.”

Although Cormack said there are no other company-owned stores in the immediate future, but the company is keeping its eyes open for additional opportunities. “We’re constantly exploring retail locations globally,” he said. “It’s something we’re extremely passionate about and will continue moving forward with.”

Herschel Supply is currently sold in over 10,000 doors and 70 countries worldwide.
