Karl Lagerfeld has signed a deal with Fossil Inc. to create a line of men’s and women’s watches to be sold under the Karl Lagerfeld label.
The move comes days after Chanel’s artistic director revealed details of the launch of a masstige apparel collection called Karl, which will make its debut on Net-a-porter and on karllagerfeld.com early next year. He also will introduce a signature line called Karl Lagerfeld Paris, with first deliveries for fall 2013.
Lagerfeld’s Fossil collaboration is scheduled to launch in spring 2013, according to the Richardson, Tex.-based maker of fashion watches and accessories.
“It is essential for us to work with the best license partners in each segment — that is why we are happy to partner up with Fossil,” Pier Paolo Righi, president of Karl Lagerfeld, stated.
Righi had indicated to WWD earlier this week that a string of licensing deals was in the works. In addition to watches, he pointed to innerwear.
