At the 3.1 Phillip Lim show, held at The New York Public Library Sunday, Odile Gilbert, working for Aveda, created two hair looks: sleek pin-straight hair and child-like Shirley Temple curls. To create both styles, Odile created a middle part. She used Aveda Hair Control and a small barreled curling iron to produce the mountains of curls and then pinned up sections around the face. Referring to the models’ curly style, Gilbert said, “They look like little girls who don’t know how to do their hair. There is something very young and cute about it.”

For the makeup, James Boehmer for NARS Cosmetics created a clean face. Referring to Lim’s spring collection, Boehmer said, “The clothes are very colorful, so I wanted to make the girls look bright and fresh.” He said the designer wanted the girls to look like they had just stepped off the airplane. “It’s jet-set beauty,” he said. Lips were a matte beige-rose shade, eyes sparkled in a gold shadow and cheeks were pretty in NARS’ multipurpose stick in the pink shade Orgasm. Boehmer carefully perfected the foundation and then created a “boyish brow”
