It was a flashback to old school New York backstage at DKNY. “It’s really vibrant sportswear with fluoro colors, big, bold stripes, abstract shapes, sneakers — the whole thing,” said Eugene Souleiman, Wella Professionals’ global creative director. “I’m calling [the look] urban fabulous.” He crafted a different style for each model, consisting of low ponytails, braids and slicked- back hair for girls with shorter locks. In front, he molded thin pieces of hair into waves across the forehead and secured with Sculpt Force Flubber Gel.

Channeling the humidity in New York, Yadim, for Maybelline, created a slightly sweaty look inspired by a day spent walking around the city. He used foundation in shades slightly darker than the models’ natural skin tones “to warm everything up without feeling like you’re wearing a lot of makeup,” said Yadim. He applied Color Tattoo in Leather on the eyes and under the lower lash line to create depth, and then used Barely Branded as a highlighter on the cheekbones, chin, nose and inner corners of the eyes. “Brows are really boyish — unkempt and unruly,” Yadim explained. “We used Brow Drama and brushed the brows inward against the grain, and then brushed them up so they’re really kind of spiky and feathery.”
