PARIS — The beauty look at Jean Paul Gaultier was all about ballerinas.
Makeup artist Stephane Marais gleaned inspiration from Zizi Jeanmaire, a celebrated dancer in the Fifties who also sang. While performing her hit, “Mon Truc en Plumes,” she danced with feathers.
To achieve the look, Marais focused on models’ eyes, which were given eyeliner and false eyelashes. He also added white base around peepers, which then was faded into natural skin tones elsewhere on faces. Lips were reddened.
Odile Gilbert created updos decorated with feathers of all colors and sizes.
