Backstage at Versace Spring 2017

Pat McGrath applies natural makeup for a sporty yet refined look, while Guido Palau goes rock 'n' roll with stick-straight hair.

The look was sporty at Versace. Pat McGrath created a natural makeup for a sporty yet refined appearance. “The models mustn’t look sweaty or tired,” she explained. She created this natural look applying first of all a base of foundation, then she highlighted the models’ skin with a touch of cream blush and her Skin Fetish highlighter. After grooming the eyebrows, McGrath applied mascara on the eyelashes and she finished the makeup with the application in the eyes’ corners of a bit of silver pigments.

“The models have stick-straight hair,” said hairstylist Guido Palau, who created the look for Versace’s show thanks to Redken’s Pillow Proof. A special spray that cuts blow-drying time, protects from heat up to 450 degrees, helps reduce breakage and provides 24-hour lasting volume without weighing hair down. Palau also used a Redken product: Align 12, which is a protective smoothing lotion with antifrizz technology, for a “very cool and rock ‘n’ roll” effect, he said.
