Out-of-the-Box Beauty in Paris

The creativity quotient soared for the spring season.

While a tamer, more natural beauty paraded down spring catwalks, some hyper-creative looks bubbled up, too.

“The trend that keeps on coming is adornment,” said makeup artist Val Garland. “It’s like I’ve got all of this [makeup], but I’m going to put something funny somewhere — whether that be glitter on my eyebrow. So it’s almost like being used as a sort of accessory.” In fact, Garland crafted such an accessory at Giambattista Valli, in sparkly hues like pink, red, green and purple.

“It doesn’t feel like ‘Groundhog Day’ in Paris,” added Eugene Souleiman, the hairstylist behind fantastic creations that graced runways for brands like Martin Margiela and Yohji Yamamoto.

Other standout beauty looks this season were noted at the likes of Undercover, Haider Ackermann and Junya Watanabe.
