PARIS — Balmain and Inter Parfums SA have singed a 12-year worldwide fragrance license agreement, starting Jan. 1, 2012.
A new Balmain fragrance line is scheduled to launch at the end of 2012.
“Balmain represents a unique brand in today’s world of fashion,” stated Philippe Benacin, chairman and chief executive officer of Inter Parfums SA, the French subsidiary of Inter Parfums Inc.
He added that the “high prestige style” provides a “a strong basis for differentiation in preparing for our future launches under the brand.”
Founded by Pierre Balmain in 1945, the house has been recently known for its ultra-expensive and sexy fashions, including big-shouldered jackets, thigh-skimming dresses, gauzy T-shirts and lean jeans.
Balmain’s new designer, Olivier Rousteing, is to show his first collection on the runway here in October.
Empire of Scents currently holds the Balmain fragrance license.
