A bevy of beauty books are being released this fall, including helpful how-tos and art-house worthy retrospectives.
LOVE, LASHES, AND LIPSTICK
Celebrity makeup artist Mally Roncal spoke at the WWD Digital Forum about the importance of connecting with customers via personal anecdotes. So it comes as no surprise that her first book, Love, Lashes, and Lipstick: My Secrets for a Gorgeous, Happy Life (Ballantine Books, $25) is part tips and tricks, part memoir. Out in late September, it’s filled with step-by-step lessons and intimate stories whose subjects range from Roncal’s mother to her famous clients like Beyoncé.
One of the most sought after—and fearless—hairstylists in the fashion world, Guido Palau has created 70 new looks for his second book, Hair (Rizzoli New York, $75), out in September. Palau partnered with long-time collaborator David Sims to photograph the intricate weaves and daring spikes; fashion journalist Tim Blanks delves into Palau’s inspiration, his relationship with the late Alexander McQueen and more in a revealing Q and A interspersed throughout the book.
