PARIS — Move over, Bollywood. Charlie Le Mindu, the maker of zany hair creations, is introducing “Charliewood,” a multidisciplinary revue due to run at the Palais de Tokyo here from March 17 to April 9.
The hairstylist’s happening will mix music, dance, video and live performance meant to demonstrate how the human body can be metamorphosed over and over again.
Le Mindu, known for his intricate, madcap innovations, is no stranger to the museum. Last February, some of his wigs were displayed in an exhibition there titled “Le Bord des Mondes” (or “At the Edge of the Worlds”).
Le Mindu has shown his “haute coiffeur” collections in Paris during numerous ready-to-wear seasons. The fall 2015 line that gleaned inspiration from the Surrealist “male gaze” artistic movement of the Twenties was presented in a cabaret format at the Crazy Horse.
For fall 2014, Le Mindu displayed at the Joyce Gallery another otherworldly collection all done in gray that was inspired by his move to Paris.
