MILAN — Cosmetica Italia, the Italian association of cosmetics companies, has teamed with American artist Natalie Irish to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
Founded in 1967 under the Unipro moniker, the association requested Irish to realize an original artwork that pays tribute to beauty. Irish will create the painting with her signature “lip print” technique, which she introduced in 2001.
Cosmetica Italia’s president Fabio Rossello explained how the appointment of the artist felt fitting not only for the technique she uses — she applies lipstick and kisses the canvas — but also “for the subjects and themes in her work,” which include portraits of iconic celebrities as Marilyn Monroe, Jimi Hendrix and Amy Winehouse.
Irish will unveil and complete the painting live in front of select guests during an exclusive gala dinner hosted by Cosmetica Italia on June 28.
The painting will be gifted to the “La forza e il sorriso [The strength and the smile] — Look Good Feel Better Italia Onlus” nonprofit organization, which operates with the patronage of Cosmetica Italia and offers free professional beauty consultations and tips to women in oncological therapy. The organization will auction the artwork to raise funds for its goal.
