Cosmoprof Asia Registers Record Numbers

The Asian edition of the beauty fair closed its twentieth anniversary with a 5.5 percent increase in visitors.

MILAN — The Asian edition of international cosmetics trade fair Cosmoprof registered record visitor numbers at its 20th anniversary edition at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre from Nov. 11 to 13.

At the fair, which recognized the U.S. and Italy as “Countries of Honour” for their support, 63,241 visitors were registered, up 5.5 percent compared to last year. 40,761 visitors came from outside of Hong Kong (up 7 percent) with an increase in visitors from the U.S. and Europe and emerging countries Chile, Thailand, Vietnam and Ukraine.

“Cosmoprof Asia 2015 hosted 2,504 exhibiting companies from 46 countries which is an increase of six percent compared to last year, with an exhibition area of more than 84,000 square meters (about 904168 square feet) — a three percent expansion,” said Michael Duck, director of Cosmoprof Asia Ltd.

New to the beauty fair was the exhibition area Spot on Beauty, focusing on products for spa and wellness, hair and nail, cosmetics and personal-care sectors. The area, which measures to be about 39,826 square feet, also hosted a beauty forum for trends and Asian market developments and featured for the second time the charity initiative Boutique, dedicated to The Women’s Foundation, which helps victims of domestic violence.

For 2016, the trade show will follow the new concept “One Fair, Two Venues” and take place at two locations. At AsiaWorld-Expo from Nov. 15 to 17, the show will focus on ingredients, machinery, equipment, packaging and contract manufacturing, while the second part at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre from Nov. 16 to 18 concentrates on finished products, such as cosmetics and toiletries, beauty salon, hair salon, nail and accessories.
