Cosmoprof Gears Up for 49th Edition

The International cosmetic trade fair is scheduled for March 18 to 21 in Bologna.

MILAN — International cosmetic trade fair Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna is warming up for its 49th edition, slated from March 18 to 21 in conjunction with the Cosmopack packaging show, scheduled for March 17 to 20.

At its last edition, the fair registered 248,000 visitors, up 20 percent compared to 2014 with 70 percent of exhibitors and 79,000 visitors from foreign countries. Duccio Campagnoli, president of BolognaFiere, said, “The increasing internationalization is one of the strengths of Cosmoprof.”

For the upcoming edition, 2,500 exhibitors will attend, of which 73 percent are coming from abroad. The visitor numbers are expected to increase, since the fair already recorded a jump of 19 percent in online pre-sales.

According to Cosmetica Italia, the national association of cosmetics companies, the international edge will remain important for the fair. In 2015 the value of exports from Italy rose 10.5 percent to 3.7 billion euros, or about $4 billion. Sixty-one percent of Italy’s exports are sold to non-European countries.

Cosmetica Italia’s president Fabio Rossello also credits the gains to the high competitiveness of Italian companies and their ability to intercept and understand markets trends. “From new product trends to the identification of important customer clusters, such as the Millennials, the interception of new possibilities is offered by digital tools and the social networks,” he said.
