Davines Group Obtains B Corp Certification

The Italian company owner of the Davines and Comfort Zone brands joins B Corp’s global network.

Davines Group, which owns the hair-care Davines and skin-care Comfort Zone brands, has received the B Corp certification for its social and environmental positive impact.

The Italian firm joins B Corp’s worldwide network of companies certified by the nonprofit organization B Lab for having met rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency and for their commitment in using their business power to solve social issues.

B Corp’s growing community counts more than 1,600 certified firms from 42 countries and 120-plus industries, which work together to redefine the concept of success in business. Founded in 2006, B Lab’s goal is to create a reality where all the companies compete not only to be the best in the world but the best for the world. Other certified firms include Patagonia Inc., Reformation and Eileen Fisher Inc. apparel brands.

“It was comforting to know there’s a movement of companies inspired by the same principles we believe in,” said Davines Group’s chief executive officer Paolo Braguzzi. “It makes us think with optimism about the possibility that the economy could become a tool at the service of well-being and not the way around,” he concluded.

Davines Group, as all businesses interested in joining the B Corp movement, has been evaluated by B Lab’s certification authority through the Business Impact Assessment, a questionnaire that measures the degrees of social and environmental performances according to five categories: governance, people, community, environment and clients.

B Lab grants the certification to all the companies delivering a minimum of 80 points on a total of 200. Davines Group received the B Corp-status totaling a 99-point-score.

Founded in 1983 by the Bollati family, Davines Group was initially a research laboratory realizing high-end hair-care and skin-care products for third parties. In 1993, the company founded the Davines hair-care brand while three years later Comfort Zone debuted with professional skin-care products destined to spas, thermal baths and beauty centers. All the formulation and production procedures take place in the laboratories inside the firm’s headquarters in Parma, in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna. In addition to the main plant, the Group is also present in more than 90 countries and has branches in London, Paris, New York, Mexico City, Hong Kong and Deventer, in Netherlands.
