Dominique Ropion, master perfumer at International Flavors & Fragrances Inc., will receive the Lifetime Achievement, Perfumer award at The Fragrance Foundation Awards this year.
Ropion is the perfumer behind Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf, La Vie est Belle by Lancôme, Alien by Thierry Mugler and many other fragrances. In addition to creating a host of well-known scents, Ropion is known for his mentoring at IFF, where he works to foster young talent.
“I’m proud of receiving this award and am eager to see future generations of perfumers receive it in a few decades. A perfume contains endless combinations with the power to rouse the most diverse sensibilities. They’re definitely worth dedicating a lifetime of creation,” Ropion said in a statement.
In addition to working as a perfumer and mentor, Ropion has been a driving force of IFF’s naturals R&D teams. He’s also revamped the company’s perfumery school program in order to boost young talent.
Ropion will be honored with other winners of The Fragrance Foundation Awards at the organization’s June 5 event at Lincoln Center in New York.
