GLAM4GOOD, a movement, community and organization founded by stylist Mary Alice Stephenson that ignites positive social change through style, made an unexpected impact on a group of military moms-to-be — one they never saw coming.
On Saturday at Caserma Ederle U.S. military post in Vicenza, Italy, these expectant mothers thought they were meeting with First Lady Michelle Obama during her European tour for a roundtable discussion on motherhood in the military. Instead, Obama led them into a surprise baby shower and a GLAM4GOOD shopping spree.
“You guys are getting some special things because we want you to know that we’ve got your back while you’re going through this part of your lives,” said Obama to the group of women. “You’re not alone. We love you guys.”
Stephenson and her team of experts, which included designer Dee Hilfiger, Shen Beauty’s Jessica Richards and stylist Gabrielle Swan, hosted the GLAM4GOOD shopping spree with the help of Operation Shower to honor these women and pamper them with new clothing, accessories and beauty products from a variety of brands like H&M, Tommy Hilfiger, Alexis Bittar, Ray-Ban, Dior Beauty, Pai Skincare and Orlando Pita hair care, among others
“The moms were in tears when they realized all the GLAM4GOOD [items] were their’s to keep,” Stephenson said. “Mrs. Obama even jumped in with a fashion tip or two.”

She added, “Our next GLAM4GOOD initiative will be with Erica Ford’s Peace is a Lifestyle to pamper mothers who have lost children to gun violence.”
And Stephenson is continuously evolving the organization. This fall, GLAM4GOOD will launch its own content platform that shares inspiring stories of transformation and empowerment through style.
