The Kylie Cosmetics entrepreneur was expected to attend the Balmain show, as she was named the artistic director for makeup at the show and collaborated with Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing on a capsule makeup collection, which WWD exclusively reported earlier this week. Those plans have since changed, as Jenner revealed on Twitter that she would no longer be attending the show due to an apparent sickness.
“Unfortunately, I’m really sick and unable to travel,” wrote Jenner in a note shared to Twitter this afternoon. “I’m heartbroken to be missing this show, but I know that my amazing team, and my friends who are in town for the event, will help me be there in spirit.”
Jenner and Balmain’s joint collaboration consists of lip color, eye shadow and accessories that incorporate makeup. It is slated to launch online on Sept. 27, to coincide with the Balmain show. Jenner was previously expected to attend a party at the Balmain store in celebration of the collaboration.
“This is really the first time I’ve collaborated with a fashion house, and Olivier has created so many incredible looks,” Jenner told WWD in an exclusive interview. “Olivier and I talked through which products we wanted to create, and we agreed that an eye shadow palette, a matte lip kit and a high gloss would really bring together the look we were aiming for. We worked together and selected the colors for all products and designed the packaging. We knew we wanted to launch it the same day we do the fashion show so the whole day is about the show and the collab.”
