Paris Celebrates Breast Cancer Awareness

The Estée Lauder Cos. Inc. lit pink the city's Conciergerie on Monday evening.

PARIS On Monday evening, to help kick off the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc.’s annual Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, the company lit pink the Conciergerie — the former royal palace and prison on Île de la Cité in central Paris where Marie Antoinette was jailed.

Also projected on to the building were silhouettes of the operation’s iconic pink ribbons.

A throng of guests gathered before and after the lighting ceremony under the majestic building’s Gothic arches in a vast room around whose parameter was hung 40 photographs of people impacted by breast cancer. They were contenders for the company’s Pink Ribbon Photo Award, which was in its second edition.

A prize-giving ceremony took place on Monday night, as well.

And in France, proceeds from the sale of The Evelyn Lauder Dream Collection of products, such as solid perfume compact with an interlocking heart design, will go to Le Cancer du Sein, Parlons-En! (or Breast Cancer, Let’s Talk About It!), an association that the Estée Lauder company helped found.
