Executives at the Victoria’s Secret division Limited Brands Inc. in Columbus, Ohio, had no comment on a report from an India-based Web site that stated authorities in Qatar removed bottles of one of the company’s fragrances, Strawberries and Champagne, from retail shelves in the Landmark Mall in Doha.
The site quoted a Twitter post as saying that the products went against the “customs, traditions and religious values” of Qatar. Perfumes, creams and body mists were all removed from the Doha mall.
According to the site, alcohol is not banned in Qatar, but its sale is limited to certain hotels and bars. Expatriates must earn a certain amount of money and need a license to buy alcohol. Officials did not say what they think of the lingerie sold in the same mall.
