QVC Honored at Annual CEW Lunch

Approximately $500,000 was raised in ticket sales from the roughly 600 industry professionals in attendance.

Cosmetics Executive Women honored retailer QVC at its annual “Beauty of Giving” luncheon at the Waldorf Astoria on Friday.

In 2013, the two entities teamed up for QVC & CEW Present Beauty With Benefits, two two-hour-long shows during which 80 percent of every beauty item sold was earmarked for CEW’s Cancer and Careers charity supporting women and men with cancer, particularly those with workplace issues, noted Carlotta Jacobson, president of CEW.

More than $2.2 million was raised, and additional programs are being planned, said Mike George, president and chief executive officer of QVC Inc.

“When my people are passionate about making a difference, I get out of the way,” said George as he accepted the award. “Claudia [Lucas, director of beauty merchandising] and her team had passion and vision, and the shows would not have been possible without the enormous generosity of the beauty industry.”

The grand total in funds raised for the 2014 Beauty of Giving Luncheon was $735,125, including sponsorship and table/ticket sales, as well as the Live Auction, which raised $46,000, and Fund-a-Need, which raised $94,000.  There were over 700 attendees at the luncheon.
