Shannon Curtin has been named chief executive officer of Chicago-based New World Natural Brands, a holding company with a portfolio of micro and niche brands in the natural beauty and personal-care space.
“Shannon’s vast beauty experience, which combines retail and consumer goods, makes her especially well positioned to deliver our growth objectives. Shannon’s collaborative leadership style, industry expertise and personal passion for the natural category will ensure our brand portfolio continues to meet the consumer’s evolving needs,” said Ed Ryan, New World Natural Brands chairman.
A seasoned mass retail exec, Curtin had been running her own beauty and personal-care consultancy following her departure last summer from Coty Inc. She was formerly senior vice president and general manager for Coty’s consumer beauty division in North America. Her exit from Coty came amidst a series of executive leadership changes and restructuring to the company’s consumer beauty division as it struggled to turn around its major brands Cover Girl, Clairol, Rimmel and Sally Hansen.
Prior to Coty, Curtin served as group vice president and general merchandise manager for beauty and personal care at Walgreens Boots Alliance.
New World Natural Brands is a holding company that takes majority stakes in small independent beauty and personal brands. Brands in its portfolio include Nügg, which makes single-use face mask pods, and Suki, a natural skin-care line targeted at sensitive skin.
