LONDON — The Body Shop International has gone back to school by collaborating with the London College of Fashion to develop a makeup range set to be introduced in the spring.

A Body Shop spokeswoman told WWD exclusively that the range, Brush With Fashion, will be unveiled on Nov. 17 during a catwalk show at the college.

The line will feature special brushes that have been incorporated into the packaging, and will go on sale at selected Body Shop stores worldwide early next year.

This is the first collaboration between the two organizations, and an announcement is expected today.

The Body Shop worked alongside students who are studying design, illustration, styling, makeup, photography and promotion, said Ann Massal, brand and innovation director at The Body Shop.

“[The London College of Fashion’s] strong commitment to sustainability provokes, challenges and questions the fashion industry status quo, and perfectly reflects The Body Shop’s approach to beauty,” Massal added. Professor Frances Corner, head of college at London College of Fashion, said the collaboration is the beginning of a longer-term partnership. “We welcome The Body Shop commitment to supporting and nurturing British trained creative talent,” she said.

The Body Shop is the latest European brand to team with London fashion academics and students.

The Body Shop, which was founded by the late Dame Anita Roddick, opened its first store in March 1976 in Brighton, England. The London-based firm, which L’Oréal acquired four years ago, now operates more than 2,500 locations in more than 60 markets.
