Vera Wang to Be Honored at BCRF Symposium & Luncheon

Wang called the late Evelyn Lauder a "hero."

Vera Wang is being honored at the Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s Symposium & Luncheon on Oct. 17, WWD has learned.

Wang will receive the Sandra Taub Humanitarian Award at the lunch, which honors philanthropy, advocacy and thought leadership. Donna Karan will present Wang with the award.

“As a mother, friend, designer and woman, I have been so proud to have been but a tiny part of BCRF and treasure having known the extraordinary late Evelyn Lauder,” Wang said in a statement. “Her dedication to fighting this disease has impacted all of our lives. A woman who gave back to other women is truly a hero for me.”

The BCRF Symposium & Luncheon is held annually in October, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The event will also honor Eric Winer, M.D., Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School; Director, Breast Oncology Center at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute; physician active staff, medicine, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and a member of the BCRF Scientific Advisory Board.  He will receive the Jill Rose Award for his outstanding contributions as a clinician-scientist that have revolutionized the landscape of breast cancer treatment.

The event, hosted by Nina Garcia, editor in chief of Elle, takes place at the New York Hilton Midtown.
