Makeup brush brand Artis is now being sold on luxury e-commerce site Net-a-porter. The collection had been available exclusively on its Web site until now. Jeremy Adelman, managing partner for the line said the partnership strengthens the Artis brand proposition. “This is the next chapter in the story of Artis. We’re aligning ourselves with the foremost online luxury fashion retailer,” he said. “They have a large customer base and offer a global entryway.” Adelman also stressed that benefits of the partnership extend beyond the immediately tangible. “It’s more than dollars and cents. It’s about the goodwill this provides long term.” The brush collection, launched in May, is said to make self-application of makeup easier, with brush bristles that are designed to be perpendicular to the skin. “If you think about the last 20 or 30 years, makeup has evolved drastically, but brushes haven’t,” said Adelman. The brand sees itself as delivering that necessary update.
Net-a-porter global vice president of beauty David Olsen sees Artis as the newest piece of what the site calls its “quintessential edit.” “We launched beauty 20 months ago and have carried what we think are the best brands in the world and in each of those brands we carry the best products,” said Olsen. Net-a-porter is not featuring the entire Artis line but will sell most of its products. “I was thrilled to see this new style of brush on the market,” he said. “It’s not only absolutely gorgeous —the design is also useful.”
