SYDNEY — Hourglass Cosmetics has expanded its reach to the Southern Hemisphere.
The Venice, Calif.-based color line was introduced at 21 Mecca Cosmetica stores in Australia and three in New Zealand this month.
Carisa Janes, founder and chief executive officer of Hourglass Cosmetics, visited Sydney to oversee the brand¹s Australian debut.
“Australian women are increasingly beauty savvy and the industry is flourishing. This is a great opportunity for Hourglass to build upon the success we’ve had in the U.S. and to continue our global expansion,” said Janes. “Our retail partner Mecca Cosmetica brings innovation and impeccable customer focus, which will help build the brand in this country. Judging by the consumer response so far, we feel confident that Hourglass is going to do well.” While Hourglass currently has no plans to open any other new markets this year, Janes noted another key brand strategy is to expand its backstage presence at New York Fashion Week for September’s runway shows, together with Gina Brooke, Hourglass Cosmetics’ new artistic director.
