Tapping into her racy beauty style, MAC Cosmetics will launch a collaborative color cosmetics line with Dsquared, which will be available on MAC counters globally and online beginning Oct. 1. The products, which bear Dsquared’s label, will be previewed at selected MAC sales points on Sept. 28, the same day Dsquared will hold its spring 2010 fashion show.
MAC worked with Dan and Dean Caten, the twin-brother designers behind Dsquared, to create eight products based on the label’s runway beauty look for fall 2009. Inspired by the films “Ziegfeld Follies,” “Grey Gardens” and “Girl, Interrupted,” the season’s face was a dramatic, sooty eye complemented by soft pink lips.
Key to the Dsquared product lineup, MAC proposed a new eye shadow product to achieve the look. Dubbed “greasepaint sticks,” the waxy, thick pencils deliver intense color, come in hues of violet, blue and black and retail for $17.50. Other items in the Dsquared-MAC line include sheer pink and deep berry shade lipsticks ($14), and natural hued powder duos ($21) to highlight bone structure.
