MAC Cosmetics has inked a three-year partnership with Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana as the official makeup sponsor of Milan Fashion Week.

MAC is also serving as a main partner of Next Generation, a contest that selects several young designers to support and mentor with the help of industry professionals. For the first time, the contest will take place online and will chronicle the designers’ experiences as they compete for the Next Generation prize. Four finalists will be narrowed down to one winner by an appointed jury, and the winning designer will be featured in Elle magazine with Chiara Ferragni, Italian model and blogger for, wearing the winning piece of apparel.

“Almost since the brand’s inception, MAC has made fashion designers a priority, from makeup artistry to product collaborations, and we have, for many years, supported [individual] Italian fashion houses backstage during Milan Fashion Week,” said John Demsey, group president of the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc., noting that the brand has been sponsoring individual shows both globally and in Milan for more than 20 years. “With our new partnership with Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, MAC now formalizes its continued commitment to Italian designers both established and up-and-coming.”

Demsey noted that MAC supports more than 850 shows globally each year. He is also passionate about nurturing fashion’s emerging talent. “Over the last several years, we have aligned with organizations such as CFDA, ANDAM, Fashion East and the British Fashion Awards so that we can participate in their programs, specifically ones that foster the next generation of talent,” said Demsey, adding that CNMI also supports that goal. “And we don’t just support designers during fashion week. We show our commitment and loyalty to them 365 days a year, including helping with look books and other things. We’re not only champions of the people in the limelight but also the designer who is struggling to get there.”
