MILAN – Italy’s Accademia del Profumo celebrated its 27th annual awards ceremony here on Monday, recognizing male and female fragrances that launched in the previous year.
The event was hosted at the UniCredit Pavilion in the Porta Nuova district in partnership with Cosmetica Italia, the national association of cosmetics companies and the Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna trade show, which just held its 49th edition in March.
Chanel Chance Eau Vive and Dior Sauvage were the standout winners of the evening. About 65,000 consumers voted for the two scents in the categories “Best Female Fragrance of the year” and “Best Male Fragrance of the year,” respectively.
A VIP jury also awarded each scent for their communication. Chanel Chance Eau Vive was recognized for its playful pastel-colored spot, showing four models taking a chance in the bowling alley, whereas Dior Sauvage was honored for its campaign, which was directed by Jean-Baptiste Mondini and showed actor Johnny Depp swapping the city for the hot desert.
Accademia del Profumo also celebrated the nose behind Dior Sauvage, Francois Demachy of Parfums Christian Dior with a special prize. The fragrance achieved the best sales results in the first six months after its launch on the Italian market.
