LONDON — The Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo unveiled his first fragrance, Cristiano Ronaldo Legacy, with an event in Madrid Wednesday night.
Ronaldo, who plays for the Real Madrid soccer team, has teamed with the British firm Eden Parfums to create the fragrance. The men’s scent blends notes of lavender, apple and cinnamon, and Ronaldo described the fragrance as having “both style and stamina.” In a statement, he said: “I believe a fragrance can define you and how you present yourself to the world, so I wanted my debut scent to be masculine, sexy and confident.”
The bottle, which Ronaldo described as “masculine and classic,” is a matte black glass flacon with embossed gold metal sides and a gold top.
The fragrance has launched to buy immediately on the Web site cristianoronaldofragrances.com, and comes as an eau de toilette in 30-ml., 50-ml. and 100-ml. sizes, priced from 29 pounds, or $45 for the 30 ml., through to 55 pounds, or $85 for the largest, 100 ml. There is also an aftershave, at 39 pounds, or $60 for 100 ml., and ancillary products such as aftershave balm, shower gel and deodorant.
As to the name of the fragrance, Ronaldo said that “legacy is about creating something that people will remember you for, which is what I strive to do both on and off the pitch,” he said. “Fragrance has the ability to leave a strong and lasting impression, so [the name]…seemed the perfect fit.”
Stella Vassiliades, marketing director of Eden Parfums commented: “We are proud to be working alongside Ronaldo on his first venture into fragrance,” she said. “We feel that Ronaldo’s signature scent really reflects his personality and perfectly embodies our shared vision.”
Following the launch on the e-commerce site, the fragrance will launch at select retailers globally from Sept. 16.
The fragrance adds to Ronaldo’s growing stable of lifestyle products — last year he launched a range of men’s shirts under his CR7 label, in partnership with Richard Chai, which followed his CR7 Underwear. The latter bowed in 2013 in partnership with Danish underwear manufacturer JBS. The soccer player also does a CR7 line of footwear, which is produced with Portugal Footwear.
