Germany’s fragrance industry gathered Thursday night in Berlin to toast the best of 2015. Guerlain perfumer Thierry Wasser was honored at the Duftstars event with a lifetime achievement award.
“Fragrances have so much to say to us, and Thierry Wasser is someone who really listens, in order to translate the language of perfume so that we can understand it,” commented Martin Ruppman, head of the German Fragrance Foundation and the VKE, Germany’s association of cosmetics producers. “Without the scents he’s developed, the art of contemporary perfumery would be inconceivable.”
Other winners of the night include Bottega Veneta pour Femme Craftsmanship Edition and Acqua di Parma Colonia Club in the Exclusive segment, and Hermès’ Le Jardin De Monsieur Li and Dior Sauvage in the prestige category. Classics were also celebrated — category champions were Narciso Rodriguez for Her Eau de Parfum, and Creed Himalaya.
Spy style swept lifestyle, with James Bond 007 Women and James Bond 007 Seven picking up the prizes for the category. Best marks for bottle design were given to the purse-shaped Marc Jacobs Decadence, while Dior Sauvage’s Johnny Depp campaign received the Best Print Ad prize.
