Henrik Vibskov Launches Scent Trio

His new city-themed fragrance series is launching today at Berlin’s Voo concept stores.

BERLIN — Danish designer Henrik Vibskov is playing to type without playing it safe.

His new city-themed fragrance series, a trio of eaux de toilette named Type B, Type C, and Type D, is launching today at Berlin’s Voo concept stores after making its debut at Copenhagen Fashion Week in early August.

Type B, named for Berlin, uses spicy, woody and warm notes like black pepper, gaiac wood and coal tar to conjure up visions of the German capital in winter. Type C, named for Vibskov’s home base Copenhagen, delivers an olfactory harbor tour through citrus, salty and seaweed notes. And Type D, for Damascus, provides a heady marketplace rich with pink pepper, jasmine and tonka bean.

Each 50-ml. bottle retails for 80 euros, or about $116 at current exchange, and comes wrapped in a patterned knit sleeve: black for Berlin, blue for Copenhagen and red for Damascus.

Vibskov leapt into the olfactory realm in 2009 with his participation in the second round of the Six Scents designer fragrance project, where he created a scent with Givaudan perfumer Louise Turner, who also worked on the Type series.
