In July 2010, Mary J. Blige set an HSN record by moving 72,000 units of her debut fragrance, My Life. On Saturday, the award-winning musician and entrepreneur will return to HSN’s Saint Petersburg, Fla., studios to introduce My Life Blossom, a follow-up to her first scent.
The new addition, which Blige developed with Firmenich and Lisa Price of Carol’s Daughter, is described as an evolution of the original scent. It is a creamy floral which opens with gardenia petals, mandarin, white freesia and orange flower; has a heart of tuberose, blooming jasmine and marigold, and a drydown of sandalwood, cashmere and vanilla. It will retail for $55 for 1.7 oz.
After Blige’s appearance, the scent will continue to be sold on hsn.com.
While executives declined comment on projected sales, industry sources estimated that My Life Blossom could do $5 million at retail in its first year.
For each bottle sold, one dollar will be donated to the Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now (FFAWN), the charity formed by Blige and marketing impresario Steve Stoute to inspire women from all walks of life to gain the confidence and skills they need to reach their individual potential through scholarships, grants and programs.
