Scentbird Entering Men’s Fragrance Market

For $14.95 per month, subscribers will receive 30-day supplies of their choice of scents.

Men, smell you later.

That’s essentially what fragrance subscription service Scentbird is saying, as they expand their assortment into men’s scents today.

For $14.95 per month, subscribers will receive 30-day supplies — roughly a 0.27-oz. spray — of their choice of scents, with the list currently including selections from Giorgio Armani, Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Tom Ford and Ralph Lauren. The service is billing the box as an alternative to making “a huge investment in a full bottle, only to find that they get bored with the scent.” Or, to put it another way, “Netflix for cologne.”

Men who are undecided can use Scentbird’s “TruScent Recommender,” which takes users through a database of scent profiles and reviews.

Two of the four cofounders — Sergey Gusev and Andrei Rebrov — are men. Gusev’s favorite scents are Terre d’Hermès by Hermès and Chanel Allure Homme Sport, while Rebrov favors Givenchy Play and L’Eau Par Kenzo Eau Indigo Pour Homme.

Like the women’s service, launched earlier this year, the men’s is expected to appeal most to Millennials — those consumers ranging in age from 19 to 37.
