PARIS — Oscar Pistorius will no longer appear as the face of Thierry Mugler’s Amen men’s scent.

“Out of respect and compassion for the families implicated in this tragedy, Thierry Mugler Perfumes has taken the decision to withdraw all its campaigns with Oscar Pistorius,” stated the Groupe Clarins-owned brand.

Pistorius, who has been the face of Amen since 2011, is accused of having killed his girlfriend in his South African home on Feb. 14.

Clarins became the second company to withdraw from its relationship with the runner after Nike earlier severed ties.

The 26-year-old — who is the first double-amputee sprinter to compete in the Olympics — is known as “Blade Runner,” due to his carbon fiber artificial limbs. Pistorius won two gold medals and a silver at last year’s Paralympic Games in London. In the 2012 Olympics, he ran in the 4×400-meter relay and reached the 400-meter semifinal.

Pistorius first appeared in the Amen ad that came out worldwide in March 2011. In the 15- and 30-second spots directed by Ali Mahdavi for digital media, Pistorius could be seen sprinting clutching a bottle of Amen. A single- and double-page print campaign also broke at that time.
