CLEAN CAUSE: Aveda is again taking on the quest to collect donations during this year’s Earth Month in April, which marks the 10th year in support of non-profit organization Global Greengrants. To date, the hair care firm has raised more than $38 million worldwide to help support organizations that directly affect environmental change and clean water protection.
In Italy, Aveda has teamed with nongovernmental Oxfam Italia for the second time, after collecting more than 50,000 euros, or $54,456 at current exchange rate, in the previous year. Throughout the month of April, Aveda salons will donate 2 euros for each color service, and the company’s education center in Milan will offer styling and cutting services for a small donation between April 13 and 20.
For the second time, Aveda will participate in the Stramilano, a street race slated for March 20 in Milan, and is also urging its customers to subscribe for the race for the enrollment fee of 14 euros, or $15, of which 6 euros, or $6.50, will be donated to Oxfam. In 2015, Aveda counted 250 participants and is hoping to reach the target of 500 runners for this year’s edition.
Customers who are not too keen about running, but still want to make a contribution, can purchase the “Light the Way” candle from all Aveda salons for 12 euros, $13. Featuring scents of cinnamon, vanilla, cloves and ylang ylang, the candle is available from April 1 through the end of May and its entire proceeds will be fully donated to Oxfam, which plans to invest the donations into bringing drinking water to Haiti and support local institutions.
