Nashville-based retailer Linda Roberts has added hair care to her repertoire.
Roberts, who owns six stores in Tennessee and founded skin care brands Therapy Systems and Eköh, has introduced a new brand called The Back Bar.
The Back Bar currently consists of Clarifying Treatment Shampoo, which is formulated with Glypure, a form of glycolic acid produced by DuPont, which purportedly exfoliates the scalp and removes buildup from hair follicles.
The shampoo, which is priced at $24 for 8 oz., is designed to reduce friction in the hair for better manageability, strengthen and moisturize and protect the hair while blow-drying, styling and using a curling iron. It’s also intended to protect colored locks and is meant to be used three to four times a week on normal to dry hair and once a day on oily hair.
The Back Bar is carried at Roberts’ stores: Private Edition, Therapy Systems Concept Store and two Cosmetic Market locations in Nashville — as well as Cosmetic Market locations in Franklin and Chattanooga, Tenn. It’s also carried at therapysystems.com and thecosmeticmarket.com.

It’s been a busy first half for Roberts, who, earlier this year, launched an antiacne range under Therapy Systems called Serious Overnight Blemish Relief System. The four-item line, meant to mildly treat all skin types, is designed to combat redness and inflammation associated with pore congestion and breakouts.
The Serious Overnight Blemish Relief System includes Calm and Clearing Facial Wash, an oil-free formulation that features marine extracts. It comes in two sizes, an 8-oz. version for $28 and a 2-oz. version for $12.50. There’s also the Treatment Cleanser for Problem Skin, which uses an alpha hydroxy acid called mandelic acid for its antibacterial and exfoliating properties, and is priced at $36 for 8 oz. and $12.50 for 2 oz.
Topical Treatment Serum, $68 for 2 oz., employs mandelic acid, as well — and is also designed to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Finally, French Green Clay Spot Treatment uses the ingredient for its healing benefits and the item also features Aspen tree bark, an anti-inflammatory agent. It is priced at $19 for 1 oz.
