MILAN — Bumble and bumble has partnered with Milan-based salon Suite 01 to open its first Italian salon, which is designed to be a living room for customers and opened in January.
For the new project, the hair firm collaborated with the salon’s creative director Luca Di Prima, who previously worked for the Scottish salon chain Rainbow Room, but always had a soft spot for the brand’s products. “When I first encountered Bumble and bumble, I fell in love with the products, because no one had them and they are very distinctive,” he said.
Prima, who runs the salon with his partner Patrizia Leo is also behind the Suite 01’s interior concept, which is located in Via Spartaco 4, a short walk from Maison Prada and next to the Spazio Etro. The 645-square-foot space is located on the first floor of a historic Palazzo, featuring wooden floors, black-and-white wall decor and round, oversize illuminated mirrors. A winter garden is overlooking the inner courtyard, decorated with vintage accessories and furniture.
The professional hair-care brand, which just launched its six-item Bb.Curl collection in January, entered the Italian market through Sephora, but aspired to have its own space from the beginning. “Milan is the city of fashion, the ideal place to launch Bumble and bumble,” said Gerardo Lionetti, the firm’s brand general manager, adding that the brand would continue its partnership with Sephora, but is also not limited to one channel. “Our adventure will continue in the lounges worldwide,” he noted.

Also further salon openings in Italy are on the agenda. “Our goal is to find other Suite 01’s, which are eager to be part of a new project that will enhance the characteristics of the brand,” Lionetti said, adding that the brand will open another salon in Rome in fall, to be followed by other main Italian cities.
