At the spring couture shows in Paris, designers lavished their looks with a profusion of flowers, from the romantic to the resolutely modern.
Hair and makeup artists followed suit, with fanciful embellishments that have become a staple of the couture hair and makeup scene. Odile Gilbert applied ostrich feathers to models’ hair at Alexis Mabille, while at Dior, Guido Palau energized the ponytail with links and superlong extensions.
At Valentino, he took a more ethereal turn, weaving tiny multicolored flowers into braided crowns.
“It’s like they were just lying in the grass,” said Palau backstage of the models. “There’s an innocence to their kind of romance.”
