India’s Godrej Consumer Goods Ltd. Takes Over Cosmetica Nacional

Indian firm has an active investor on the global scene.

NEW DELHI — Godrej Consumer Goods Ltd., a major player in India’s personal-care market, has bought the remaining 40 percent to fully acquire a leading Chilean hair care and color cosmetics company, Cosmetica Nacional.

The Indian company, which has been making global acquisitions, has a strong investment in the personal-care segment in Latin America, amounting to approximately 6.5 billion rupees, or $98 million at current exchange rate.

Overseas investments over the last few years have included Indonesian companies Megasari and Tura, Argentinan companies the Issue Group and Argencos South African hair-extensions firm Frika Hair.

The company’s top brands on the Indian market are Cinthol, Godrej Fair Glow, and Godrej Shikakai in the skin-care segment and Godrej Powder Hair Dye, Renew, Colour Soft in hair colorants.
