When he first moved to New York City 15 years ago, men’s grooming expert and salon owner Martial Vivot was “blown away” whenever he stopped to admire the windows at Barneys. “Their balance of luxury and edge is one of a kind,” he said. Vivot was similarly awed when his eponymous, five-sku men’s haircare line launched in the store earlier this month. “It was a closing to part of my story,” he said.
His tightly edited collection of shampoo, conditioner and styling products debuted just one year ago and was previously only available in his Fifth Avenue-area salon and online. “As the brand’s year anniversary approached we started to think, ‘Where would we like to see our products [be sold],’” said Vivot. He turned to one of his favorite stores, Barneys. “We had a meeting and within ten minutes, Barneys said they wanted our products,” he said.
To celebrate the launch, Vivot and Melissa Jochim from the line’s research and development team toured Barneys stores around the country. The pair will be in Beverly Hills and Las Vegas this week.
