Rita Hazan Launching Weekly Remedy

With Hazan’s latest lightweight product Weekly Remedy, a two-step treatment that restores hydration and shine, Hazan is hoping to ramp up consumers’ hair.

Rita Hazan claims that her celebrity client with the healthiest hair is Jessica Simpson.

“As much as I bleach [Jessica Simpson’s] hair, she’s on this regimen and her hair is so healthy,” said Hazan, who also counts Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez as clients, among others.

With Hazan’s latest lightweight product Weekly Remedy, a two-step treatment that restores hydration and shine, Hazan is hoping to ramp up consumers’ hair.

“There’s no conditioning treatments that manipulate the pH balance so that you’re actually getting a result and not just a cosmetic mask,” said Hazan, adding that the Weekly Remedy should only be used once or twice a week, depending on hair damage.

Containing ingredients like rice proteins and oils such as mirabelle plum, moringa seed, jojoba and olive, Weekly Remedy consists of two products and follows a two-step treatment. The first part treats and is said to open the cuticle and disperse proteins and UV protectors throughout the hair. The second step seals and locks in those nutrients to condition, hydrate and preserve color.

Weekly Remedy, $42, will be sold at Rita Hazan Salon, ritahazan.com and Ulta beginning in October and will roll out to Sephora next year. Additionally, social media will play a significant role in marketing the treatment.

While Hazan declined to comment on projected sales, industry sources estimated that Weekly Remedy could do about $3 million to $5 million during its first year on counter in the U.S.

In regard to taking her four-product line abroad, Hazan is hoping to expand in the future.

“I’d like to go global,” added Hazan. “Women who color their hair all over the world have the same exact problem.”
