Twists and rolls were all the rage this season. Many used the style to impart a Forties vibe, including Isaac Mizrahi, with soft rolls in the front; Catherine Malandrino, with swirled chignons on the top of the head, and Vivienne Westwood Red Label, where Malcolm Edwards described his inspiration as “demented Forties Flintstones.” “They’re bad girls who go to church for sex,” he elaborated. Twists took an elegant turn at Carolina Herrera, where Orlando Pita created an off-center part and then twisted the hair upward and in to complement the designer’s chic gowns.
