Tara Smith Hair Care Launches in the U.S.

Celebrity hairstylist Tara Smith brings her all natural hair-care line to the U.S.

Tested on film stars, not on animals is the mantra of Tara Smith’s line of hair care, which she’s bringing to the U.S. in July.

The collection, which is composed of 12 stockkeeping units including cleansing, conditioning and styling products, will launch on HSN’s Beauty Report on July 16.

“I wanted to launch on HSN because I want to educate and hit every American,” said Smith, adding that the chemist, Dr. Roger Barr, who helped her with the line, worked with the late Anita Roddick of The Body Shop.

The celebrity hairstylist, who has worked on films since age 24 with the likes of Marisa Tomei, Demi Moore and Rosario Dawson, discovered that a lot of all natural hair-care lines don’t deliver in terms of performance.

“People need to wake up and be more conscious,” declared Smith, who originally launched the collection in 2012 at Marks & Spencer.

Tara Smith Haircare is botanically infused, vegan, cruelty free and gluten-free. Smith also claims that the collection is for all hair types and ethnicities.

Meanwhile, performance was key due to Smith’s background. And it must execute, since Kiefer Sutherland, Neve Campbell and Dawson have all invested in the line.

Priced from $16 for a shampoo to $26 for a hair serum, industry sources estimate that Tara Smith Haircare could do $250,000 for the second half of 2015 with HSN.

“Tara Smith Haircare offers a fresh new alternative for those searching for high-performing hair products that are not only vegan, but toxin-, gluten- and cruelty-free,” said Anne Martin-Vachon, chief merchandising officer for HSN. “We are confident this package will resonate with our customers.”
